Contrary to the usual .situation, however, the li hoy.s were the ones, who went after eiK'h other hammer and tons. Ciohlen Andrus, of Kexluu represented rep-resented the U. V. U. in the heavy weight class. Andrus, though he had been training for only a short time went after Ryan of the U. of U. in great shape, but was thrown on a sort of fluke while the wrestlers wrest-lers were off the main mat. Butch Knowley, of the U. A. C. in turn threw Ryan. In doing so Knowles displayed, marvelous strength and unusual ability. Jesse Hullinger, 175 pound class, of Vernal, representing the B. Y. U. won both of his matches ; the first one after two extra sessions on a decision de-cision from Bardner, of the U. A. C. and the second fall from Miller, of the U. of U. Miller suffered broken ribs in the encounter. Ilyruin M'ard, of Treston, wrestling wrestl-ing for Ii. Y. U. won his first match hy drawing a by, but lost his second sec-ond match to Terry, U. A. C:, but a decision after two extra sessions. Terry was counted one of the . strongest on the Logan team. In ! his match against Nelson U. of U., ! he displayed great agility and speed, ; but seemed to be afraid to mix it , too freely with "Ward on account of the latter's strength. j Milton Hunter, of Ilolden, wrestl- j ing for B. Y. U. lost his match to i Crosby, V. of U., by a decision after 1 a good exhibition of wrestling. Cros-' by was clearly the heavier of the two men. In the 135 pound class, Ardell 1 Blaclvham, of Moroni, representing ; B. Y. U., took his two men with j comparative ease, winning from ' both by a fall. ; The 125 pound was lost for B. Y. Of course, in- accordance with college rules all "break holds" such as the toe hold, the wrist lock and others of that nature were barred from the contests. The winning of the wrestling championship places the B. Y. U. in the-lead of the other two state institutions in-stitutions in competitive athletics. The B. Y. U. is the champion in basketball bas-ketball and wrestling; the University Univer-sity of LJtah. in swimming and the Utah Agricultural college in football. |
