Show 'RED DEVILS' PREPARED TO ; MEET PROVO 'BULLDOGS' IN ; OPENING THRILLER FRIDAY Ancient Rivals' Combat Provides Great Curtain-Raiser for Football Season In County Springville and Provo, ancient rivals on the athletic field hook up Friday in the opening football game of the present season on the Springville campus. The fact that the athletic authorities of the state tiave seen fit to place the two teams ,n different divisions this year will not detract in the least from the usual interest when the two teams clash. Interest Is Keen The initial game of the 1928 grid campaign should prove intensely Interesting to the fans for a number num-ber of reasons. Although robbed of any bearing on the title race the game will give the rival coaches a line of their prospects this year. The fact that Provo is scheduled this year to play with the Class A teams would make a victory for Springville Spring-ville all the more desirable. Both teams are in fair shape although al-though the season is very early. Springville has a slight edge on Provo due to the fact that school started a week earlier. The Class B. schedule in region three begins next week with Payson and Spring- tille meeting at Payson in the opening open-ing tussle. Provo will have three Biore weeks to prepare for the race, per.ing in Provo against Granite, Oct. 12. Backfield Is Intact Springville's strong backfield of 1st year consisting of Paxman, Childs, Gudmundsen and Thorn is left intact and and should make a strong showing this year. Coach Leddingham, however, states that Paxman and Haymond are slightly crippled, and he may save them for their first league game, which will be played at Payson, Friday, September Sep-tember 28. Provo's strong line has not been materially weakened but the backfield lost three good men in Ripple, Fotheringham and Martin. Mar-tin.
