Show I Should the success of a club for the coming season depend largely upon the first meeting, then well , may the ladies of the Alpha Beta club look forward to a banner year. j Mrs. G. W. Mendenhall, president, i was in charge of the first meeting held Friday afternoon with Mrs. G. ' G. Neill as hostess. After comiiuin- ity singing a few words of welcome , and a brief outline of the year's , work was given by the president. Mrs. Mary Bird then told in an interesting manner of her exper- iences while visiting in Chicago and New York this summer, and of the I operas she attended. A splendid j paper on "Parliamentary Laws" I was given by Mrs. E. M. Boyer. A ' short business meeting was held. after which delicious refreshments were served by the hostess to twenty twen-ty members and four guests present. pres-ent. M rs. Neill was assisted by Mrs. R. A. Hansen of Provo and Mrs. K. K- Knudsen, DELEGATIONS I REQUEST AID Delegations from the Cedar Fort and Payson precincts met with the board of county commissioners Monday afternoon, asking for county aid on road improvements and other problems. The Payson delegation, headed by Jesse Hall, asked for the improvement of a certain stretch of county highway west and south of Payson. The Cedar Fort party, with Bishop F. Garn as spokesman, appeared in regard to a road leading from the loading switch on the Fairfield branch to the town which is being closed by a property owner who claims title to the right-of-way. A protest lodged with the commission com-mission in regard to the pollution of the source of the culinary water supply was referred to Dr. El. P. Oldham, county health commissioner. |
