Show FIREMEN OF TWO COUNTIES CONVENE HERE Members of the Utah-Juab County Coun-ty Firemen's association met with the Springville Volunteer Firemen department No. 1 in the high school auditorium Sunday afternoon. Chief Reed Boshard of Provo, president of the association, presided. pre-sided. After minutes of the last mooting were read and approved, business of the association was transacted, and pi'ohlems of the various departments were discussed in detail. It was suggested that some worth while subject should be discussed in each meeting hereafter. Jack Buttle of American Fork was assigned as-signed the topic "First Aid" to be given at the next meeting. A delegation including Ihe chiefs-from chiefs-from each department present was ohosen to meet with t tie Firemen of Payson, Nephi, Lehi and Goshen and invite them to join the county association. ; Chief Reed of Mammoth gave an interesting talk of experiences on. his recent trip east and told of the different kinds of fire apparatus and means of fife fighting used in the larger eastern cities. Mr. Reed also invited the members of the association as-sociation to Mammoth for the next meeting to be held the First Sunday Sun-day in November. The invitation was accepted. In connection with tne meeting a program was given as follows: readings, Mrs. Leo G. KoDortson; vocal duet, Miss -"", and Helen Palfreyman, accompanied accompan-ied by Miss Alberta Mendenhan at the piano; comic vocal duets, Margery Marg-ery Wheeler and Wilma Parker. After the program -a banquet was served to a large crowd oi members and their partners, representing repre-senting the departments of Provo. Eureka, Pleasant Grove, American Fork, Mammoth, Spanish Fork and Springville. Special guests were Mrs. Emma Powell of Salt Lake, president of the ladies auxiliary, and Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Cardwell of the state association. Chief J. T. Wheeler was master of ceremonies, John Kindred toast-master. toast-master. A short talk was given by L. E. Wiscombe, state trustee also by Mrs. Powell of Salt Lake. A vote of thanks for the days entertainment enter-tainment was extended by the visitors visi-tors to members of Springville. The association of Springville also wished to thank the Nebo school, board of the use of the high school. |
