Show DEARTH EXISTS IN CANDIDATES FOR OFFICES With the approach of the time for the primary elections Springville citizens are wondering who's who in the field of politics. At the com; ing city election a mayor, four councilmen, city recorder and city treasurer will be chosen. One city councilman, William Whitehead, is the holdover member of the city fathers. It is understood that the entire group including Dr. George A. Anderson, An-derson, mayor; Councilmen J. L, Phillips, Theron S. Hall, G. L. Dal-lin Dal-lin and John Franson; Harry Pennington, Pen-nington, recorder, and Mrs. Eliza Russell, treasurer, will enter the race to succeed themselves to their respective offices. The present administration will enter the arena on its economy record, it is stated. Attention is called to the fact that by careful administration of the city's affairs they have been successful in retir- ing the balance due on the old waterworks wa-terworks bonds, a debt incurred in 1910 for installation of the wood stave pipe, which has recently been replaced with cast iron . pipe. Up to this time there seems to be somewhat of a dearth of material ma-terial for these places. Claude Salisbury Salis-bury is among those prominently mentioned as possible mayoralty timber. Mr.. Salisbury is popular and well qualified both by experience ex-perience in business and finance, familiar with the administrative and also in the fact that he is affairs of the city, his friends point out. John Childs of O. P. Skaggs store is also mentioned as a man in whom the public has much confidence, confi-dence, it is said. Lewis Clegg of the First ward is mentioned as possible pos-sible candidate for councilman from that part of the city. |
