Show Billboards hi the Sky A concern in Great Britain is building several 140 foot "blimps'" to be used for survey photography and air passenger passen-ger service. Among other things, the builders propose to sell the sides of their craft for advertlsmg purposes. At so much a square foot ambitious advertisers will be permitted to hang huge banners on tho i.ides of the gas bag, calling attention 'to their wares in whatever fa; hion they deem most desirable. At night the flying advertisements can be illuminated by floodlights. To our esthetic mind this is carrying the desire for advertising ad-vertising revenue to near the limit. As it is, few sights can be more beautiful than i great airship, framed against a background of glorious sky. We don't think we could care for it so thoroughly, if the same ship portrayed on either side a glowing tributo to Dr. Hokum's Fills, in colors. There are I ciough ungainly billboards shutting off the view along the highways. We do not need them erasing about the sky. |
