Show Maurice Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. WallacePird of this city, and Miss Mary Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Williams of Spanish Span-ish Fork, were married in the Salt Lake temple Wednesday, September Septem-ber 25. The young couple left following fol-lowing the ceremony for a two week's auto trip to California. After they return to Springville they expect to go to Seattle, Washington, Wash-ington, to make their home, i Outstanding among the socials of the past week was the "invitation party" given Wednesday evening by the Gleaner class of the Third ward Mutual Improvement association, associa-tion, complimentary to the new members. A number of games were carried out during the party and were followed by a dainty luncheon' served to the following guests present: pres-ent: Miss Ruth Johnson, hostess, Mrs. Margaret Grooms, Miss Jes-see Jes-see Packard, Mrs. Philda Finley, Mrs. Elizabeth Salisbury, Mrs. P.hea Straw, Miss Sarah Neill, Miss Fern Bate, Miss Bernice Faucett, Miss Florence Boyer, Miss Helen Boyer, Miss Ida Packard, Miss Ileen McKenzie, Mrs. Alice Cande-land, Cande-land, Mrs. Olin Zabriskie, Miss Virginia Vir-ginia Packard, Miss Margaret Bird. Baxter. Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, Mrs. Melba Pennington, Mrs. Genevieve Amanda Binks, Mrs. Manila Brown, Mrs. Rulon Crandall was special invited guest. A supper in their honor was greatlty enjoyed Wednesday evening eve-ning at Keeley, Provo, by the following fol-lowing high school boys from this city, who went as a stock judging party to the fair that day: Leo Hone, John Patrick, Dwain Spafford, Spaf-ford, Bert Brown, Virgil Bird and Mark Cook. The boys were accompanied accom-panied by their instructor, V. C. Mendcnhall. General Chang, the Manchurian war lord, was fined $150 the other day for an accidental killing. So they have innocent bystanders in China, too. Hutchings, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ostler, Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Ostler, and Mrs. Mae Walker. 1 Donloe Kennedy left last week to enter school at the University of Utah, Salt Lake. He graduated from the local high school last year. Miss Fern Sumsion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Sumsion of this city, and Benjamin K. Cooper of Salt Lake were married in the temple Friday, September 27. A number of social events were arranged ar-ranged in their honor preceding the marriage. Members of the S. T. club will hold their next meeting October 10 . at the home of Mrs. Norris Binks at Mapleton. All are invited to be present at 8 o'clock. The ladies of the Missionary Society So-ciety of the Springville Community church were pleasantly entertained. Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. R. W. Davidson in this city. A nicely-arranged program was given during the afternoon. Devotional Devo-tional was by Reverend Wilson and I short talks on missionary work were also given by members of the society. A dainty luncheon was served to the following people: Mrs. A. M. Lyall, Mrs. Peter Forsyth, For-syth, Mrs. H. E. Urquhart, Mrs. E. V. Boorman, Mrs. L. M. Gillilan, Mrs. W. L. Grooms and Reverend Harold L. Wilson. Mrs. Amasia Rowland was hos-' tess to the ladies of the Social j Twelve Card club at her home 1 Thursday evening. A variety of fall flowers formed attractive decoration dec-oration for the entertaining rooms. Progressive auction bridge was the principal feature of amusement, with the prize won by Mrs. G. D. Kennedy.
