Show TREES CONTRIBUTE TO - BEAUTY I With Springville chosen as one of the few cities in the state to receive special service from the extension division of the Utah Agricultural college in an extensive program of beautification, it is the desire of the city planning commission that the entire citizenry of Springville cooperate in a movement to beautify this city. ' It is especially desirous that citizens do not fail to cooperate with the city officials and the city planning commission in the planting, trimming and removal of trees within the limits of the city. The city ordinance provides that all dead trees, and all trees that have been or may be partially uprooted or blown over so as to be in danger of falling, or by reason thereof there-of having become unsightly, or which in any manner obstruct the street or sidewalk, are declared to be a nuisance, and the owner of the premises in front of which such trees are situated is required to remove the same. These trees should be removed under the direction di-rection of the city planning commission in order that there shall be no unsightly stumps left in the side of the public streets of the city. It is stated that the city is now negotiating ne-gotiating for equipment with which to remove such trees, which will be a great aid to the property owners. ' The city planning commission should also be consulted in (natters pertaining to the planting of trees, as it is of great importance that uniform species be selected. It is unlawful to plant or permit the growth of certain varieties of trees within the limits of the city. i - Trimming of trees also is a matter of great consequence in the general beautification plan. The city ordinance requires that every person who is the owner, or is the agent having the care of any premises situated-within the city and abutting" any public street, or highway, is required, and it is made his duty to trim and keep trimmed, all trees growing grow-ing on said premises and in front thereof, where branches of trees overhangs any portion of such street or highway, or overhang any part of the pavement or sidewalk, such trees shall be trimmed at least eight feet above the level of the pavement, sidewalk, or street so overhung by such branches. In this matter it is" advisable to consult the city planning commission in order that all trees of the city may be trimmed evenly, and thus give a uniform appearance, i If the citizens of Springville will cooperate with the city officials and the city planning plan-ning commission in these matters it will not be long until this city will be one of the most beautiful in the entire state.
