Show FARMER IS HELD; ARSONCHARGED Doors in Haystack Lead to Arrest of Lehi Man. Charles Gray, 63, a farmer of Lehi, was arrested Sunday afternoon after-noon by Sheriff J. D. Boyd and Deputy Dep-uty Otto Birk at Biverton on suspicion sus-picion of having set fire to a place owned by him in Lehi. Gray was lodged in the county jail but refuses re-fuses to make any statement until nftor h hnrl nnnsnUprl with his blW- yer. The arrest followed the finding in a haystack on Gray's land near the Point of the Mountain of the seven doors to the house in which a fire broke out earlyi Friday morning morn-ing in Lehi. Gray denied any knowledge of the presence of the doors in the haystack until un-til after the officers had found them. He is said to have told told everything to him Friday had he seen the sheriff at that time. According to Sheriff Boyd, Gray less than three weeks ago took out a fire insurance on the house with a Provo agency. It is the belief of the officers that Gray removed the doors to the house thinking that the fire would destroy the building before be-fore anything could be saved. When the fire was put out by neighbors they found straw scattered around in the different rooms, in the furniture fur-niture and even in a baby buggy. The family renting the place were out of town at the time visiting relatives. |
