Show SOCIETY I Outstanding among the social events of the past week was the Kensington given Friday by Mrs. Harold Alleman in compliment to Mrs. E. D. Hardman who is visiting visit-ing here from Eugene, Ore. Entertaining Enter-taining rooms were prettily decorated decor-ated with early autumn flowers in various shades. During the afternoon after-noon the time was pleasantly spent with social chat of girlhood reminiscences, sewing and an enjoyable en-joyable program which was given as follows: Reading, Miss Helen Alleman; reading, Miss Sarah j Marie; piano duet, Melpha and Sarah Marie Binks. Guests at the , party were girlhood friends of ! Robinson of Provo, Misses Jasmine j land Winnifred Parry and Lue Ballard Ball-ard of Salt Lake City, Mrs- Milo Demming of Kcm merer, Wyoming, and members of the immediate family. Mr. and Mrs. Willis Sumsion of this city announce the engagement of their daughter Fern to Benjamin Benja-min Kimball Cooper of Salt Lake. The marriage will take place in the Salt Lake temple during the latter lat-ter part of this month. Members of the Home Culture club of this city began their sea-on's sea-on's activities last FViHnv- ftl noon when they were delightfully entertained at the home of Mrs. H. E. Urquhart The following excellent excel-lent program was given, vocal solo Mrs. Helen Palfreyman, accompanied accom-panied by Miss Alzada Wilmott; piano solo,- Miss Esda Urquhart, an excellent account on "My Recent Re-cent Trip to the Northwest," was with roses predominating. An attractive feature was the bower which was formed with a solid mass of fern, palms and roses. The bride looked charming in a gown of white satin. Her veil of imported lace and orange blossoms blos-soms added much to the beautiful costume. Bridesmaids were Miss Vesta Anderson of this city and Miss Mabel Olsen of Salt Lake. Miss Margaret Bird, sister of the bride was maid of honor. In the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs. Bird, Miss Carol Bird, who also looked especially charming in a black evening gown with crystal bead trimmings, and Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. Hardman, who was formerly Eliza Watson. Present were the following ladies: Mrs. A. W. Roylance, Roy-lance, Mrs- Wayne Johnson, Miss . Fannie Rowland, Mrs. G. R. May-cock, May-cock, Mrs. Willis Sumsion, Mrs. T. W. Binks, Mrs. Marilla Kelley, Mrs. Will Alleman, Mrs. Lewis Whitney, Mrs- Charles Alleman. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostess. Complimentary to her son Ned, and also to A. B. Olsen, uncle, who was visiting here and whose birthdays birth-days occurred the same day, Mrs-Dimick Mrs-Dimick Childs entertained at a nicely arranged birthday dinner at her home Friday. A beautiful bowl of Los Angeles roses formed an attractive centerpiece for the din-; ing table. Covers were laid for : twelve guests inclusive of im-' mediate family members. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Hodson returned re-turned to Provo Sunday where they will make their home. They were recently married in the Salt Lake temple, and were accompnied there by Mr. and Mrs. Will Bird. They left soon after the ceremony for a trip to Wyoming. Before their marriage Mrs. Hodson who was formerly Miss Iva Phillips taught in the high school at Bryon, Wyo. She was a member of the Gamma Phi Omicrom sorority, social unit of the B. Y. U- Mr. Hodson is employed em-ployed at the Cherry Hill Dairy. A nicely arranged dinner was given Sunday by Dr. and Mrs. George A. Anderson at their home complimentary to a number of out-of-town young folks. A variety of early autumn flowers were arranged ar-ranged throughout the entertaining entertain-ing rooms, while a crystal bowl of tea roses formed a pretty dining table centerpiece. Guests included , the following: Norman Creer, Miss given in an especially interesting manner by Mrs. A. M. Lyall. A short speech of welcome was made by the new president, Mrs. Harold Christensen, who was also in charge. Other officers are: Mrs. Mrs. Hugh Baxter, vice pjsident; Mrs. H. McDougall, secretary and 1 treasurer, corresponding secretary Mrs. Alva Zabriskie chairman of program committee, Mrs. C. F. Packard. Following the afternoon's program a nice luncheon was served by the hostess to twenty members and one visitor. Miss lone Palfreyman and Wilford Wil-ford Olsen of Bringham City were married Wednesday in the Salt Lake Lake temple. They left soon after the ceremony for Minneapolis, Minn., where they will reside during dur-ing the coming year. Before their marriage a number of social functions func-tions were arranged in their honor here and also in Provo where both have a host of friends having graduated from the B. Y. U. Mrs. Olsen also was a former instructor in-structor in domestic art and science departments of that school. One of the outstanding social events of the late week was the wedding reception given Saturday evening by Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Bird at their home in honor of their daughter Mary and "Blackie" Huish who were married Monday in the Salt Lake temple. The entire en-tire house was decorated with a profusion of early autumn flowers, Frank Earl of Provo. During the evening a splendid musical program pro-gram was given with numbers by Miss Catherine R. Dougall, Miss Afton Argyle of Spanish Fork, Miss Alzada Wilmott and the Wain-wright Wain-wright sisters. Wilde's orchestra from Provo ilso furnished music selections. Nearly 175 guests called during the evening. Dainty refreshments refresh-ments were served. Many beautiful and useful wedding gifts were presented pre-sented the honor guests. Mr. and Mrs. Truman Hutchings of this city announce the marriage of their son, Elvin Hutching3, to Loy Bearden of Bonner Springs, Kansas. They will make their home in Springville. Mrs. Edna Evans and son Glen of Los AngelcSj Cal., have returned to their home after spending a month in this city and in Ogden visiting Mrs. Evans parents, Mr, and Mrs. J. O. Hutchings and other relatives and friendb. Members of the Home Cuiture j club of this community will meet next. Friday. Sept. 3. at the home of Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall.
