Show Two Springville exhibit work in local exhibit The art exhibit at the City Hall, beginning Friday, Nov. 15, will feature the work of Roslyn Rowland McClain and A. I. Tippetts. The two local artists will have about 14 paintings, all oils, on display. There will be a variety of subjects including landscapes and still life pieces. Roslyn has been painting since early high school days, when she won the Aureole Art Award given annually to the most talented senior art student. stu-dent. Besides studying under Stanley Stan-ley Burningham at high school, she has taken art' lessons from Professor Glen H. Turner and also from Axel Darais of BYU. Mr. Tippetts, who paints purely as a hobby and was rather reluctant to exhibit his work, has taken lessons at various var-ious times from teachers at the BYU. He has, only a few paintings on hand having given giv-en most of his work away. He enjoys participation in many phases of art as evidenced evi-denced in his home, which he designed and built and in his garden. One of his newest interests in-terests is molding clay and making pottery, experimenting with materials found locally. He has taken an interest in years past in rock hunting and cutting and polishing the stones into pieces of art. Mr. Tippetts retired in recent re-cent years from Snow College where he was an instructor in the social science department. One of his sons, Twain Tippetts Tip-petts is head of the fine arts department at Utah State University. |
