Show Services held Monday fcr Albert L Thorpe Funeral services were conducted con-ducted Monday in the Fifth ward ( Springv ille Stake House) for Albert L. Thorpe, 72, well-known Springville business bus-iness man and civic leader who died Thursday, April 5, at the Payson hospital. He had been confined to the" hospital since March 12, when he suffered a heart attack at his place of business. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by Wheeler Wheel-er Mortuary. He was born November 11, 1889, in Gunnison, a son of Levi and Mary Ruth Taylor Thome. He received his edu- cation in the schools of Springville. Spring-ville. He married Theo Strong on June 8, 1910, in Springville. She died in 1953. Funeral services held for Albert Thorpe (Continued from Page One.) a short time in Bingham Canyon, Can-yon, returning to Springville in 1915. He was owner and manager of the Springville Garage, which he founded in 1918. He was active in civic affairs, having served for a number of years as Springville Red Cross chairman. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce, particularly partic-ularly as chairman of the road committee. Mr. Thorpe had served as Polio Drive chairman, chair-man, and had worked in the Boy Scouts, particularly in the finance drives. An elder in the LDS church he worked on the Senior Aar-onic Aar-onic Priesthood Committee and the Sundav School. Hp had spr. ved also on the old folks committee com-mittee and on the Black Hawk committee. Surviving are three sons, Morris Thorpe and Shirley Thorpe, Springville, and Russell Rus-sell Thorpe, Long Beach, Calif., four grandchildren nine great grandchildren; five brothers and three sisters, Alfred, Arthur, Ar-thur, Lewis, Ronald and Howard How-ard Thorpe, Mrs. Florence Reynolds Rey-nolds and Mrs. Lee W. (Alice Davis, all of Springville, and Mrs. Otto F. Burton of Salt Lake City. |
