Show Winners named in Americanism essay contests Every student in the Junior high school participated in the Americanism essay contest, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary writing on the subject, "Americanism, My Responsibility." First pla c e winner was John Pehrson, 9th grade son of Mr. and Mrs. George Pehrson and Taylor Reynolds, 8th, son of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Reynolds, placed second. The junior high school attached at-tached so much importance to the contest that they awarded a $5 cash prize to the first place winner and $3 to the second place. This is in addition ad-dition to the cash prizes to be given by the Legion Auxiliary. Senior high Students from the World History class at the senior high school were invited to write the essays on the same subject and the, winners were Mary Kay Lawrence, first place anl Roger Wilson, second. sec-ond. Both are juniors. Mrs. Lela Nelson was chairman chair-man of the contest assisted by Mary Schwartz at the Junior Jun-ior high. Mrs. Nelson said the essays will be read at the PTA Founders Day and Legion Le-gion Auxiliary sponsored program pro-gram next Wednesday evening even-ing at the Senior high school. At this time, the two winners from the senior and junior high schools will be given cash awards by the Auxiliary. Winners in both divisions will be entered in district com-petitiorl. |
