Weight, life-long resident of Springville, is observing ob-serving his,'92nd birthdate today to-day at his home, 578 Canyon Drive, where family members will meet during the day to congratulate him on this occasion. oc-casion. A native of Springville, he was born to pioneer parents, Fredrick and Elizabeth Bocock Weight, April 28, 1868. His life span since that time has covered many changes from ox team and cart to jet propelled planes. ' Mr. Weight's early years were spent in the timber country coun-try where he worked, hueing ties and hauling them out with ox- team for the railroads. Later La-ter he engaged in farming He was married to Nora Childs in the Manti temple on Dec. 14, 1892. They made their home on the east bench where Mr. Weight now resides. He and Mrs. Weight were active genealogy and temple workers in the IDS church in earlier years. Mrs. Weight passed away in Feb. of 1958. They were parents of 10 children, eight living, including: Fred, Ella, Leo, LaMar, Woodrow, and Mrs. Eugene (Berniece) Wood of Springville; Mrs. Car-rell Car-rell (Iva) Waters, Provo; Mrs. Donald (Bessie) Stevens of Clearfield. He also has 36 grandchildren and 37 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Mr. Weight is quite active for his age although somewhat impared by failing vision. He is able to do a bit of gardening garden-ing and does all the cooking for himself and his daughter Ella who lives with him. |
