Show GERMAN BARK PAUL APPEALS FOR HELP HALIFAX N. S., NOV. 22. The German Ger-man four-masted bark Paul, bound from i Hamburg- for Philadelphia, is In distress 350 miles southeast of Halifax, accord-ins accord-ins to a wireless message received here today from the steamer Winnifiedian. The message said the bark has lost I fore, main and mizzen masts. All sails and boats are gone, but the crew did I not wish to abandon her and asked that a tuir be sent from Halifax. The bark, which registers 162S tons, left Hamburg on October 15. She has no wireless. So far as is known, the Paul is the first German vessel to appeal for assistance In the north Atlantic since the war began. |
