Show REGIONAL DIRECTOR NOW RUSHING COAL TO MONTANA TOWNS CHICAGO, Dec. i.-T. W. Proctor, regional re-gional fuel director, announced today that coal is being rushed to Montana for the Immediate relief of the fuel famine in TheTeT'a serious shortage of coal in Montana, especially at Helena. Coal s now moving to that territory, and in he meantime fuel will be turned over to the retail dealers to take care of the local situation. "The copper mines and smelters at Butte. Anaconda and Great Kails closed last Sunday, and will remain closed until the coal situation improves. "in the meantime, coal consigned to the copper mines and smelters in that territory terri-tory Is being directed to local dealers in Montana for household consumption. ' Denver's stores will close at 4 p. m., except groceries, markets and bakeries, and the theaters will eliminate two matinees mati-nees a week. Chicago's office buildings went on the six and one-half-hour basis today, and the stores will adopt the 11 a. jn. to 5:80 a m schedule tomorrow. The theaters will be allowed five nights and one afternoon after-noon performance a week. Electric light, both exterior and interior, was greatly reduced. The business men s committee sent a recommendation to the railroad administration adminis-tration that coal-carrying railrouds be restricted exclusively to carrying coal. |
