Show PLANS HIDE Br LEHITjNTIG CO. Tramway and Boarding House to Be Constructed in' Near Future. - -' EUREKA, Sept. 20. Early in the week Charles Zabriskie, the new manager, visited vis-ited the property of the Lchi-Timic company, com-pany, accompanied on the trip by Diree t rs Trask and Doyle. Manager Zabriskie states that the program pro-gram for future operations has been only partly worked out. Former Manager George Nichols, who is so thoroughly familiar fa-miliar with the property because of his many years of service, has consented to remain ut the mine until Mr. Zabriskie completes his plans. One of the first tilings done, according to the new manager, man-ager, will be to put in a 600-foot tramway, tram-way, which is needed to bring the ore off the mountain and to take supplier up to the workings. A duikey engine will be used to operate this tram, and one of the needed size has been secured from the Tin tic Paymaster company, owning ground adjoining the Lehi-Tintic. Mr. Zabriskie was quite pleased with the ore showing at the Lehi-Tintic and he feels confident that it justifies the prediction that the mine can soon be made to pay its way. The ore deposits. where they have been opened, are not large enough to make a heavy tonnage possible, but three or four cars of ore I er month wouid be sut'i icient to meet the operating expenses, and it seems that there is a chance for such an output as l on as some changes can be made. The Lehi-Tintic has always had some difficulty diffi-culty in securing and holdint; miners, and Manager Zabriskie believes that he can overcome this by the ere.-'i'-n of more modern' boarding and lodging houses. These two buildings will be erected at ence, and by the time they are completed it is thought that the mine will be in shape where a larger force can be used and where regular sl.iprnents can be expected. ex-pected. The ore is of a very desirable grade for smelting. iVeight and treatment charges, as well as hauling, fhuuid not cost much more than $ b per ton. Even though the ore does not average more than $30 per ton, it would admit a fair profit. For the present the matter of a new shift will not be taken up because the-officers the-officers feel that thr. prop.-r thu g to do 'is to exert all enertne? toward folowing the ore which is now exp-s-d. T his ore appears in two separate vein ", which are about ?0 feet apart, and it is understood under-stood that a winze will be sunk. -iere 1 the showing is be?t. Manager Zabriskie says h riot o .y likes the looks of the Lehl-Tlntlo, buf that the directors are capable men who are willing and anxious to bring th property into the productive stage with as little delay as porible. |
