Banning, secretary . of the commission. ; The commission holds that no report ; has been made by the telegraph company ' of the delivery charges and that no tariff l sheet on deTiveies has been filed. "Charges reported to us by individuals, ; who state that they have paid as high as ; 20 cents for the delivery of a telegram, 'are being invest iatel," states Mr. Ban-I Ban-I ning. "These collections for delivery have I not been authorized by the commission." I It was said last night that the charge for the delivery of telegrams is only made : on telegrams outside of a radius of one mile from an office. The company de-. de-. livers free of charge within the mile ' radius and has a fixed scale, depending i upon distance, for those beyond the mile ! limit. This additional charge is collected by the messenger hoy and goes to him. The ! boys get 3 cents for each message delivered de-livered within the free delivery distance. '. and the extra sum, ranging from 10 cents ' upward, according to distance, for outside i calls. |
