Show FOUR II11E0 E. H. Eardley Thought Most Likely for Board of Education Vacancy. Four men are being talked of for appointment to the vacancy on the city board of education, occasioned in the Second municipal ward by the death of Arnold G. Giauque. E. II. Eardley is thought to be most likely to be named, though tho other three George G. Smith, T. II. Burton and Dr. F. S. Bascom, a former member mem-ber of the board, have each considerable consider-able support. Determination of who will receive the appointment will, by custom, rest largely with I. E. Willcy, member of the board from the Second ward. The practice in the past is for the board to abide by the recommendation of tine remaining member from the ward in which the vacancy occurs. Mr. Willey would not say yesterday whom he will recommend, contenting himself with saying that he would endeavor en-deavor to meet the wishes of tho majority ma-jority of the people in tho district. |
