V The Keynote of This Organization Is Cheaper Fuel for Utah and a Company Owned and I Controlled by Coal Users. I Congressman Huddleston of Alabama says that the coal men "filled their pockets during the war, and they want to continue their profiteering in times of peace." THE REMEDY i Is in your own hands. The Mutual Coal Company is the outcome of this state of affairs. Mr. Ured J. 1 Leonard, President of the Mutual Coal Company, worked first with the City Commissioners for the pur- pose of having Municipal Ownership of the Coal Mines. This effort failed of result because the State I Legislature refused to pass legislation giving to the city the right to own, sell and mine coal. Mr. Leon- 1 ard continued his work toward the end that coal could be obtained at lower prices, using surveys and maps made for the City Commission preparatory to opening up these coal mines. 1 The State Board of Land Commissioners granted a lease to Mr. Leonard, recorded as Mineral Lease I Xo. 1, which covers six hundred and forty acres of coal lands. This lease has been assigned to the Mu- tual Coal Company. The property covered by this lease is in Spring Canyon and adjoins the Carbon Fuel I Co.'s mines, miners of "Ili-IIeat" Coal, the Morton Coal Co., and near the Liberty Coal Co., Standard Coal Co., Peerless Coal Co. and Storrs Coal Co, (Jesse Knight's Mines). The coal is the best quality I coal in Utah. I . We offer $125,000 worth of the stock of the $250,000 capital stock authorized. Our engineers esti- mate it will require the first named sum to open and equip the property for a production of 1000 tons I per day. I All subscribers to this stock will be on the ground floor. I NO PROMOTION STOCK I NO BONDED INDEBTEDNESS I JUST STRAIGHT COAL DIGGING I I Economy in mining, equipment and working justifies us in expecting that we will be selling coal to the stockholders of this company in 1920 at not more than $5.50 per ton and. a saving to the coai consumers of the city of more than one million dollars per annum. I We invite all consumers to subscribe to the shares of this company and, desiring a wide distribution I I of stock, we invite small as well as large subscriptions. I Mr. Mans H. Coffin has been made General Manager of the Company and active work on the property 1 1 will begin at once. We promise careful expenditure of the money entrusted to us. This company will I V I give the people a square deal and cheaper fuel. " . I Respectfully submitted by t. , , 1 J To the Mutual Coal Company: I TllG IMlltlIll COli 1 sutscrit8 fr shares at 510.00 per share. g , :' Give address and name in full and make all checks payable to F.
