Show SHOPMEN PREPARE FOR NATIONAL STRIKE In anticipation of a nationwide strike of shopmen employed on railroads which are under the administration, members of the Joint shop committees from the local shops of the Oregon Short Line and Denver Den-ver & Rio Grande railroads met at the I-abor temple last night and appointed a Picket, publicity, and finance committee. commit-tee. There are about 1000 members of the Federated Shop Crafts employed at the Salt Lake shops of the Denver & Rio Grande and 350 at the Oregon Short Line, union officials say. The local shopmen's federation includes machinists, boilermak-ers. boilermak-ers. car repairers, blacksmiths, electricians electri-cians and sheet metal workers. According to J. V. Sartori, secretary of the joint shop committee from the Denver & Rio Grande, it Is expected that a national na-tional strike will be called about September Sep-tember 2. |
