The final game of the ' Lob Angeles series was slipped Into the Salt Lake treasure box in the sixth Inning, when Marty Knur knocked the ball over the fence, scoring three runs. Tho score was 12 to 8. The victory fives the Bees five of the six games plaved and also gives them the distinction of being the first to halt the learcue leaders in a miohty long while. The Los Angeles club left last n:s;ht for Sacramento, where they will meet Bill Hodsers's meat eaters. It is up to the . Covotes to beat the Angels if the league 7 race Is to he brought down to an even chance. Following the Sacramento stand the Angels will go to Portland and Seattle for series with the tailenders. ; Errors Mess Up Things. Yesterday's game was a messy affair. Five fat errors by the Rait liake club and two by the Los Angeles club made the going rough for the pitchers, who, with the exception of Markle, weren't any too steady, anyhow. The game started with Al Gould and - Bill Pertica stepping forward as the champions cham-pions of the respective causes. These two " spltballers staged a great battle on Wednesday and the fans figured they were going to do It again. But they didn't. Pertica had no control and Gould had no luck. In addition to which, both were nicked for numerous healthy drives. Paul Fittery relieved Pertica and poor Paul suffered a regular cataclysm in the . . Inning and two-thirds which he served. During that brief spell the Bees won the game. Thev made six tallies off Paul, two being due to Rumler's double and three to Krug's homer. Aid rich finished out and the Bees made another tally off him. Cliff Markle took over Gould's game and held the opposition runless. Homers Are Factors. Eight of the twenty runs were due to ! homers. Sam Crawford's four-sacker in the first Inning scored three. Mulvey's in the fourth scored two and Krug's ill the sixth scored three. Gould put himself face to face with a , difficult situation on the first opposing batsman and throughout the game the Bees sprinkled boots about with a reckless reck-less abandon. Four of the Angel runs were earned, the other four being gifts. The Angels made three in the opening round. Gould marie a low throw of Kille-fer's Kille-fer's grounder. Fabrique hit a slow one to second, which was not handled deftly, although Bunny was given a hit on it. ' Fournier sacrificed them along, and Crawford's Craw-ford's homer scored them both ahead of himself, Sam knecking the ball over the left field fence, rather an unusual per-' per-' fortnanee for a left-hand hitter. The Angels collected one more in the second. With one out, Bassler doubled. Pertica singled to center and Bassler crossed when the ball eluded Maggert. Krug's fumble gave Killefer a life, Pertica' Per-tica' going to third. lie was out when Mulligan, taking a grounder from Fabri-. que, made a swi'it and spectacular tag. Bees Begin to Climb. The Bees made, two runs In the third Inning without the aid of anything that even remotely resembled a safe hit. Mag-pert Mag-pert and Johnson walked and advanced on Mulvey's infield out. Kenworthy made a poor throw cf Smith's grounder, Mag-pert Mag-pert scoring. Fabrhiue followed with a hoot on Rumler's grounder. Krug walked, filling the bases, but Mulligan hit into a double play. The Bees momentarily took the lead with three in the fourth. Spencer walked and Gould forced him at second. Gould scored all the way from first on Maggert's long drive to center, winch went for a double. Johnson skied. Then Mulvev knocked the ball over the right field STAjVPTNO OF THE CLTJB3. r' !oii! t '!' "o 0. fiolw c.aiirti1 n 01. -irj.x-ll-iouio, 2 i o.Tl :r! o ' 2 3 3 3 si -, 3 r ; 3 i-: Iff: i is-. o f . ' .
