Show SENATORS WORKING ON TREATY PACT WASHINGTON, Dec. 21. Negotiations towards a compromise on the German peace treaty and conferences on railroad reorganization legislation promise to be the only activities of the few members of congress remaining here during the two weeks' holiday recess, which began shortly before last midnight. By the time congress reconvenes January 5, it is hoped to have a compromise arrangement arrange-ment on the treaty prepared for presentation presenta-tion soon afterward in the senate. Disposal Dis-posal of the railroad legislation, however, Is not expected until late next month. Senate and house managers on the railroad rail-road measures will hold a formal meeting meet-ing Tuesday to outline work on adjustment adjust-ment between the Cummins and Esch bills. The following Monday the managers man-agers expect to hold daily sittings, probably prob-ably lasting for weeks. |
