Show IEDD TEACHERS' INSTITUTE ENDS Many Subjects Discussed by Convention Held at Spanish Fork. Special to The Tribune. SPANISH FORK, Aug. 31. The Nebo school district has closed a successful two-daj's' teachers' institute. Two sessions ses-sions were held daily at the high school auditorium. Friday morning the following program was carried out, the music being furnished fur-nished by Carl Nelson of Payson: Duet, Carl Nelson and Blanche McBeth of Pay-son; Pay-son; cornet solo, Lawrence Jorgenson, Payson; greetings by members of the Xebo district board; response, Mr. Thomson of Springville, president of teachers' association; trio, Blanche He-Be He-Be Lh, J. Barney and Carl Nelson; talk, "Organization and Supervision," L. J. Nuttall; paper, "Health Work in the Schools," Miss Ward. Afternoon session Music arranged by Mark Kobinson, Springville; piano solo, Miss Wilmot: vocal solo. Miss Bird; department de-partment work for teachers in the various va-rious grades. The final day's session opened at 9:30 a. m. Music arranged by Prof. W. D. Holt, Spanish Fork; cornet solo, Rulon Morgan; saxaphone trio, W. D. Holt. Mr. Martell and Mr. Robertson; explanation and discussion of the law compelling pupils pu-pils between ages of 14 and 18 to be In school, led by Superintendent L. J. Nut-tall; Nut-tall; piano solo. Margaret Smith. The afternoon session was devoted to the nisci?ssion of music, methods of teaching teach-ing it, its place In school work, and was led by the music supervisors of the district. dis-trict. Practically all the teachers of the district were in attendance. The school work will commence Tuesday. |
