Show B. Y. 0, FOOTBALLERS TIWEfi LEW Beet Diggers Show Surprising Surpris-ing Skill for So Recently , Organized a Team. Special to The Tribune. LEHI, Oct. 27. L.ehi'3 pioneer football team, playing in a swamp of mud, demonstrated demon-strated Friday that intelligent teamwork can be developed in one year with proper coaching. Choach Thome's proteges held the big B. Y. U. team to four touchdowns and succeeded in crossing the scoring line once themselves. The final count, 25 to 6, does not indicato the relative strength of the two teams, for, with the exception excep-tion of several costly fumbles, all of which contributed to the "Y" score, the contest was a nip-and-tuck affair throughout. The Purple and White back field, considered con-sidered speedy, could gel away with little against the heavy line which the B. Y. U. presented. The field slowed things up considerably and weight proved the deciding decid-ing factor. The beet diggers had three chances to score, bu t twice the sticky oval slipped from the hands of too anxious players, and once a runner bound for a touchdown lost his footing on the slippery sod and was stopped. Lehi had hut one foot to go in the second quarter, after staging a march at double time all the way down the field, hut lost the ball on the fourth down, wlfcon Knight, quarterback, muffed Robinson's perfect pass. Alt Smith. Lent tackle, did some nfftv work with his big left toe. The big tackle punted distances almost unknown to high school players. lie is a former English soccer player. , Miller, at right half for the locals, played a plucky game, in spite of injuries. Cameron at end was a tower of strength, as was also Merrill at tackle. Pyne, Provo halfback, and Partridge, fullback, assumed the brunt of the aggression ag-gression for the collegians. Clever open field running by Keeler was also a feature. fea-ture. Roberts. Lehl halfback, was Injured for the second time this season and may be out of the game permanently. Coach Thome played without the services of Hansen, 180-pound tackle, upon whom he depends for his best defensive de-fensive work. Osterloh, quarterback on the first squad, was out of the game. Provo played both high school and college col-lege men. The score and summary: Score by periods: p.. Y. U 12 0 0 7 25 Lehigh high 0 0 0 60 Touchdowns: Provo Partridge 2, Pyne 2. Lehi Robinson.
