Insidious Influences, Charge. "Recently the n.mbcrs of the association," associa-tion," jYlr. Rishel said, "found that they were, paying more for gasoline than any other city in the United States. We attempted at-tempted to remedy the situation by bringing bring-ing in a car of g;;sohne from California and soiling it to the members of the association as-sociation at cost. This sounds easy and simple, but we soon found that we were being blocked, in our attempt from un-.known un-.known sources. "The car of gasoline arrived and we made preparations to unload it in a warehouse. ware-house. Immediately a call came from the fire department warning us not to unload it in that warehouse, owing to fire regulations. regu-lations. We then attempted to have it unloaded inio motor tanks, but were notified no-tified that this was an infraction of the interstate commerce law. Warning came that wo could only unload it in a tank 2U0 ' feet from any building, and this tank must pass tho proper regulations. No such tank was available, so we accepted ac-cepted the offer of an oil company to purchase it at cost. .However, before the car could be delivered, this company reported re-ported that it had received orders from "Ibis unknown source' forbidding the purchase. pur-chase. We finally were compelled to .sell it to another oil company at a loss of $7U0. "We found that we had not only been blocked it; our attempt to unload it, but an inferior grade of gasoline than that ordered had been substituted. We Are now preparing to bring suit against the oil company in California tu recover part of our loss." v Says Organization Is Insulted. Following 'Mr. Jtishol's explanation, Joseph Jo-seph Decker, president of theassociatioii, told the members more oi Lb! alleged attempt to block the shipment, and added that such methods "were not only an insult in-sult to members of the organization, but to tho people of all Utah as welt.' . "The only solution to the problem i3 to build a tank and iant that pass all these regulations." Ivlr. Decker raid. "This can lie done for an expenditure of less than $-1000. It is now up to those present to vote whether the organization shall bow : to these powers or fi?;ht. Which shall it ;be?" "Fight," came tho unanimous answer j from the members. , - A motion was then carried to "empower, and instruct" the board of directors to build the tank, and the vote which followed fol-lowed was unanimous for the purchase.
