Show AL GOULD EAGER TO HURL FOR SALT LAKE The news from the coast that Bill Prough had been swapped to Sacramento was received by President Billy Lane of the Bees last night with equanimity, though with some regret. Several days ago it became apparent that any trade which might bring Prough to the Salt Lake club would involve too much or a sacrifice on the part of the Bees. There is no question that Prough would have made Salt Lake a high-class heaver, but it so happened that the Boos did not have just the kind of trading material needed for the swap. i President L-ane yesterday received a telegram from Pitcher Al Gould, asking , for a job with the Bees. Gould was re- : cerrtly turned over to the New Orleans club of the Southern association by Cleveland. Lane wired Al that his terms were perfectly satisfactory to Salt Lake, but that he would have to get his full release before negotiations could be entered en-tered into. Gould said he would not play with New Orleans. A Los Angeles newspaper yesterday i wired Lane asking his approval of a project to set aside a "hero day" during the season for the benefit of ball players wounded in the service. Lane telegraphed the Bees' approval. |
