Show SEIZE WHISKY TO FIGHT INFLUENZA OMAHA, Neb., Oct. 22. Five hundred gallons of whisky in barrels, kegs, bottles and cases, now in charge of Sheriff Mike Clark, are to be turned over to the hospitals hos-pitals of Omaha and are to be used to fight influenza. An order for the turning over of this whisky to the health authorities authori-ties was made today by the entire district dis-trict bench, every judge signing the order. The judges were requested to take this action by Mayor Fd P. Smith and Health Commissioner Manning. In a communication communica-tion to the court, Mayor Smith and Dr. Manning statod an- emergency exists, in which "there is an apparent necessity for whisky with which to fight the influenza epidemic" and asked the court to order Sheriff Clark to turn over all the whisky in hiB possession which is not to be used as evidence in trials for violation of prohibition pro-hibition laws. Dr. Manning said he will not authorize the use of whisky except at hospitals. |
