LONDON, Oct. 22 (Canadian Press) Five new Victoria crosses have been awarded, the recipients of three of which have been killed. The most thrilling account ac-count accompanied the award of Piper James Richardson of a Manitoba regiment. regi-ment. Inspired by his splendid example, the company rushed the wire with such fury and determination de-termination that the obstacle was overcome over-come and the position captured. Later, after participating In bombing operations, he was detailed to take back wounded comrades and prisoners. After proceeding two hundred yards he remembered remem-bered that he had left his pipes behind. Although strongly warned, he insisted on returning to recover them.
