Show r : ' Mclnnes Will Eventually Become Red Sox First Base Guardian r - y DICK "stuffy'"" .... ... . r if .if I MANAGER KD G. BARROW of the Boston Red Sox, has been trying to solve his first base problem. With Dick Hoblitzcl in the national si r. ice, the natural selection would be Stuffy Mclnnes for the place: hut such a switch would leave a hoi at third base. It is true that Mclnnes is not a third h;i-cman. and he admits it. It is also true that Mclnnes is a first baseman and all the world admits it. In several recent gaines Barrow used George Ruth, his big pitching ace. at lirst baa& Babe made goofl aa a fielder, although not a ' finished ohl and he made doubly ood ! at bat. There is small likelihood of . Ruth being permanently assigned to I first base, as his services on the slab are too much needed. It seems, therefore, there-fore, that Mclnnes will eventually be the Red Sox firt Backer, and that somebody some-body else will play third. |
