Show MAGNA AND GARFIELD AWAY 'OVER THE TOP' Great Street Parade Is an Interesting Feature of the Big Red Cross Drive. Special to The Tribune. MAGNA, May 25. Reports from the various district leaders of this section show that the Red Cross drive was a huge success and that the district has gone far "over the top." Tin' Magna district, which comprises the Magna plant, the leaching plant, the Bingham & Garfield railroad and the town of Magna, contributed a total to-tal of .$8582. Bacchus, which is also in this -district, has not been heard from, but it is understood that the people there have oversubscribed their quota. The Magna district had an allotment al-lotment of $:i.r05. The Garfield district, with an al lotment of $.1415, subscribed a total of $10,600, more than 300 per cent of their allotment. This district takes in the Arthur plant, the smelter and townsite. A feature of the drive was the street parade held here Thursdaj- under tho auspices of the local Red Cross association. asso-ciation. Over 100 automobiles and floats formed in this procession and paraded through Garfield, Arthur, Magna and Bacchus. Along the entire route, which covered a distanco of six miles, they were greeted by cheering crowds and clinking coin which was thrown into the huge flag carried by a bevy of pretty Red Cross girls. At night a rousing meeting was held in Copper's hall, at which stirring addresses ad-dresses were made by Messrs. Rideout and Anderson of Salt Lake. A dance followed the meeting and proved a financial fi-nancial success. |
