Show TICKET OFFICES ARE TO BE CONSOLIDATED Central Station for All Roads Will Occupy Hotel Utah Corner. Official announcement was made yesterday by J. D. Kenworthy, of the Denver & Rio Grande railway, that all railway tickot offices in Salt Lake will consolidate in the present offices of tho Oregon Short Lino-Union Pacific, Pa-cific, at tho Hotel Utah, effective June 1. Mr. Kenworthy, who is a member of the local committee considering the matter of consolidation of ticket" offices, of-fices, stated yesterday that, it might not be possible for all to be moved into the new quarters by June 1, but the change would be accomplished very soon thereafter. The offices of the Denver & Rio Grande and Western Pacific and the Salt Lake Route,, which are in the Judge building, will have to move to the Hotel Utah corner. The lease of tho Denver & Rio Grande and the Western Pacific on the Judge building offices expired more than a month ago, and since then these companies have been leasing from month to month. The Salt Lake Route has a lease that ruus for about two years more, but arrangements have been made to cancel can-cel this, it is stated. A new lease on tho Hotel Utah quarters for all the roads is being prepared. As result of the consolidation of offices, there will be but one up-town ticket office, and persons desiring tickets in any direction or over any connecting lines will be able to get them at the one place. Tickets wilL still be sold, of course, at the two depots. de-pots. This consolidation or ticket offices not only is a measure that will save j considerable expense in rental and operation, op-eration, but it will prove a convenience con-venience to the traveling public. As for the forces of men emploved in the separate ticket offices, no "official "of-ficial announcement has been made as to their disposition. It is understood, however, -that most of them will be used in the consolidated office, as practically prac-tically the same force of ticket agents will be required. In is understood that if any employees are eliminated by the consolidation plan from the ticket offices, they will be transferred to other work, so they will be kept in the, employ of their roads. |
