Tjieu tenant Joseph W, Palmer, formerly for-merly employed at the Arthur plant, who lis now with the American expert expe-rt tion ary forces abroad, has been appointed ap-pointed an instructor in tho world 's greatest artillery school, according to the Trenton, Mo,, Republican, a copy of which lias just been received here. Lieut. Palmer finished a three months ' course in the school April 20. ranking hrt in his section with a grado of 98. 8 per cent. Under the system of coefficients co-efficients l'ur the values of tho various subjects, his real grade was 18,125 out of a possible 20,0u0. It was in recognition recog-nition of this most excellent showing that he was chosen to act as an instructor in-structor in the school. Tho institution which Lieut, Palmer attended is "without doubt the best ar-tillcrv ar-tillcrv school in the world. It was formerly for-merly the principal cavalry school of tho French, founded by Napoleon I, but when the adoption of modem war methods meth-ods placed that branch of military service ser-vice in the obsolete class, it was made an artillery training point. Lieutenant Palmer first enlisted with tho LHah artillerv and went with the ornni'ation to Jordan Narrows.
