FRANCE Corporal Roland Twelves of 145th Field Artillery Dies of Pneumonia. Special to The Tribune. PROVO, Nov. 1. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Twelves of the I'rovo' Fifth ward received news today of the death of their son, Corporal Roland Twelves, at one of the j base hospitals, October 14, from pneumonia, pneu-monia, i The news came in a letter written by Hallis Twelves, brother of Roland, who also is in France, both brothers be-ins be-ins members of the 145th (Utah) field artillery. He was sick only a short time before his death. ' Mr. Twelves volunteered for service while employed at the Highland Boy store at Bingham, soon after the United States entered the war, and on his request was placed in F battery, with the Utah county boys. Oh June 14 he left for France with his regiment, arriving' overseas some time in July. The young man was born in Provo, August !, 1895. He is.surVrced by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Two of his brothers, Glen and Hallis, are in the military service, the former being somewhere in New York, where his company is preparing to leave for overseas over-seas service. Hallis was at the bedside of Roland at his death, as was J. Sterling Evans, son of Judge and Mrs. Jacob Evans of Salt Lake, who also wrote to Mr. and Mrs. Twelves. They have received re-ceived no notice of his death yet from the war department. |
