Show M'Adoo Does Not Believe in Taking Smokers Off Cars CHICAGO, Nov. 1. W. G. McAdoo, director general of railroads, today to-day in Chicago, where smoking cars and compartments have been removed fj'om street railway equipment at the direction of health authorities au-thorities during the influenza epidemic, expressed himself as "a friend of the smoking car, where a man may enjoy his ride in comfort." "Personally," said Mr. McAdoo. "I believe be-lieve one can get influenza as easily in a parlor car as in a smoker. It seems to me smokers should not be taken off trains unless it is shown they contribute to the spread of the influenza epidemic. In case any move is made to abolish the smoker, I will be guided largely by the recommendations recom-mendations of the public health experts in my department." |
