Kxcept in serious pneumonia ; vases, no one, save medical attendants, : can be permitted to see patients. Four Cases at Post. At present there are only fourases of the pneumonia stage of the disease at Iho post hospital, all of the other cases being of the primary or secondary stages. Kvery possible effort is being made to keep' pneumonia cases from developing by taking prompt and stringent measures with the milder cases. Thirty -one new cases of the disease were admitted to the post isolation hospital hos-pital yesterday. Of this number, seventeen seven-teen came from the students' army training train-ing corps at the University of Utah and one was from the training corps at the Agricultural college at Logan. Thirteen new cases were admitted from the organizations organ-izations at the post. There is a total of 202 cases now at the post. This includes 1S7 enlisted men, thirteen nurses and two medical officers. The cases developing at the post have developed principally among those who have been compelled to come into close contact with patients brought in from the outside in caring for them. Every known precaution is taken to prevent those handling cases from contracting the disease, hut, as is always the case, there are some instances in which it is impossible to prevent infection. Thus far there has not been a case develop among the inmates of the Third war prison camp at Fort Douplas nor among the officers and men of the prison guard company, Colonel George L. By-ram, By-ram, in command of the prison camp, f.nd j his officers are putting forth extra pre- . cautions to prevent the infection getting ; inside the prison and among the men of ! the guard. Compound Closed. No one is permitted to enter the prison compound with the exception of the necessary nec-essary officers and guards on duty there, : a-nd these are inspected twice a day for any indications of colds. The same plan is followed in connection with the entire enlisted personnel of the prison company. They are all inspected twice a day. Some of the members of the company live in the city, and, as a precaution against their contracting the disease in street cars, they are hauled back and forth between their homes and the post each day in the prison auto truck. In this way they are isolated from the puD-lic puD-lic as much as possible. Colonel Byram announces that people from the outside will not be permitted to enter the prison property unless they have special business there requiring it. Delivery of supplies from the city inside the compound has been stopped, and now all deliveries are made to the proper officers offi-cers outside the compound, and the supplies sup-plies are then taken into the camp by members of the guard company. |
