There are further cxidces that the Germans are retreating from the Belgian Bel-gian coast. Their stores are being: moved from Ostend and Bruges, extraordinary efforts being made to get all their materials mate-rials away from the rear of the front of attack; but the quantities are so vast, because- they were originally put there when the Germans had hopes of breaking througjh and driving? for the coast, that the enemy is now experiencing preut difficulty dif-ficulty in saving his supplies. More fires have been started by the Germans, especially espe-cially in Thotirout and in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of Cortemarck, and great clouds of smoke and flames now cover the country for mile?. The enemy appears to have fought welt, particularly during the early stages uf he attack, and in one instance Bavarian troops even penetrated the British barrage bar-rage and used their machine guns.
