A r.ation-wld ' movement to celebrate next Saturday, the last day of the fourth Liberty loan campaign, as "Pershing day." was advocated advo-cated here tonight by the National Council Coun-cil of American patriots, in telegrams to President Wilson and the governors of all the s'ates. The telegrams, signed by more than a score of senators, representatives, governors gov-ernors and army and navy officials, ask that "Pershing day" be established by executive ex-ecutive proclamation directing that such a finale of the campaign would result in a tidal wave of patriotism and enthusiasm, enthusi-asm, which will roll from ocean to ocean, striking fresh terror to the heart of the Hun. It is urged that churches, schools and all other organizations be enlisted in the celebration, "to the end that the concluding conclud-ing day of the campaign may be one of militant America fully aroused and realizing realiz-ing its patriotic obligations to oversubscribe oversub-scribe the loan." General Pershing was cabled news of the plan and asked to send a message from the battlefront to be commu-nicated to the nation on that day. |
