Show MOGUL SHAFT HAS R!GHPOPPER 01 Big Vein Carries Approxi-' Approxi-' mately Twenty Per Cent in Red Metal. Rich copper ore has been encountered in the Mogul shaft of the Western "Utah Extension Copper company, according to a report received from Deep Creek yesterday yester-day by General Manager A. E. Custer of the Extension company. The report came from the mine superintendent and carried car-ried the information that a two and a half-foot vein of ore carrying approximately approxi-mately 20 per cent copper had beon disclosed dis-closed across the north aide of the bottom of the shaft. Accompanying" the report were samples of ore from the new strike. The ore carries car-ries copper values in the' form of chal-eopyrite. chal-eopyrite. bornite. azuiite and malachite. The vein extends across the north side of the shaft and the Indications are that the miners are now working on the top of a bis ore body. The strike came as a surprise, as It was expected that no ore of consequence would lie encountered short of the 300-foot level. H is believed that the vein is a continuation continua-tion of the vein which is being worked on the Western Utah Copper property. and the management of the extension company, after carefully examlniner the surface 'indications and the dip of the vein, had calculated that the Mosul shaft would not cut the vein short of about 300 feet. The Extension also is producing some pood shipping ore in the winze from No. 1 tunnel, which is down twenty-seven feet and has opened up a copper vein about four feet wide. Manager Custer is anxiously awaiting- news of further developments devel-opments in the Mogul shaft, and if the ore body proves to be as big as expected ex-pected ho contemplates the installation of a big hoist and heavier machinery at the - earliest possible date. The Extension is now working from sixteen to twenty men nnd if the strike holds up to expectations the force probably will be increased right away. At the Fole Star, another Custer property., prop-erty., the main ?haft is down 2.8 feet and the bottom is heavily mineralized, carrying carry-ing some cube galena.
