Show WOMEN SENTENCED FOR AIDING DESERTER Special to The Tribune. OODBN, Sept. 2. Amanda Wilson and Josephine Cross, who were charged with aiding Oilman R. Telfer to desert from the United States army, were given jail sentences in the county jail by Judge Tillman D. Johnson in the United States district court here today. The sentence was passed after the accused had pleaded guilty to the charge. The Wilson girl was sentenced to sixty days and Mrs. Cross to thirty days in jail. Samuel M. Smith, who was arrested ar-rested in connection with aiding Telfer to desert, was given until Wednesday to plead. Judge Johnson appointed Attorney Attor-ney Arthur Woolley to act for Smith. Paul Van Rookhuyzen pleaded not guilty to the charge of violating the espionage es-pionage act. i lis case was set for hearing hear-ing September 2-".. The rase of J. H.
