Show REMEMBER THE BELGIANS. The fact that the "conference rains'' have set in should serve as a reminder to the good people of Utah that winter win-ter is approaching in Belgium and that the men, women and children of the invaded country are sadly in Deed of clothing. We who live thousands of miles from the scene of desolation have been asked by the Red Cross to contribute con-tribute such garments as we can spare to protect these unfortunate victims of German brutality from the wintry blasts. The response should be hearty and immediate, for, unlets the Red Cross is successful in this week's campaign, cam-paign, much suffering that could be averted will follow. Never mind if the garments are old and nfd mending, bring them in anyhow. Lt not a siugle articleof clothing hang in the clojet or remain packed away in trunk or box unused. It would be a grerl shame to retain any kind of wearing apparel that is not ansolutely needed for the family while the Belgians snffer, or, it may be, perish, from cold and exposu.c. Once before an appeal of this k'ud was made, and the people oST Salt Lske and Utah p'oced to the world that their hearts were in the right pl.ice. lft us maintain 0'ir reputation. Let us not wait unti". tomorrow, but go through the wardrobes today and peo ulct wo can find for the poor Belgians, who are under un-der the iron heel of the oppressor and are unable to help themselves in the face of death. A coat or a cloak mav save a human life, while a pair of shoes that can be wotn wi'l prove a veritable blessing to some worthy war sufferer during the comin7 wiater. |
