C, to The Tribune is to the effoct that Henry V. McCain, adjutant general of. the army, has sent telegrams to'the state authorities of ail "dry'' states of the union asking them if they have any contraband liquor on hand, and asking, if possible, that they hold and turn over to the government for redistillation and military use all contraband liquor that is seized in the. future by the state authorities. County attorneys throughout the state will be 'ofked to make a report to the attorney general of Utah of the seized Honor held by them. Tn Salt liake alone the authorities now have on hand several thousand dollars' dol-lars' worth of contraband liquor, and it is expected that all this and that that may be seized in the future will be turned over to Uncle Sam for redistillation redistilla-tion and use for military purposes. Alcohol is an important essential in manv ways in military work, and it is figured that a large quantity of the necessary supply may be provide from the contraband liquor that is seized in the ' ( dry ' ' states. |
