Show NAMES HELD BACK. General Pershing has cabled the names of one lieutenant and twelve en- I listed men of the engineers who were wounded when caught in between the Germans and British wheu Byng was counter-attacked by the Teutons near Cambrai last week. Eighteen others are missing, and some of them are believed to be dead. The names of theee meu have not been given out and may not be published until something definite is learned as to their fate. Undoubtedly Undoubted-ly there is a great deal of anxiety upon the part of the relatives and friends of the missing men in New York, for the regiment engaged is said to have been recruited from that state. Letters from the .front will allay some of the fears, but the suspense in a great majority ot the cases will last fof some time. It might be the better plan to print tho names of the eighteen missing engineers, 1 even though their fate is in doubt, and relieve the tensiou. The relatives of , the men would hope for the best pending pend-ing definite information, aud all the other relatives and friends would breathe a sigh of relief. Too much secrecy se-crecy is not a good thing. |
