Show EXPECT TOMORROW. WILL BE PAY DAY About $0,000 Will Ba Distributed as Soon as Captain Elliott Makes Up Payroll. Tomorrow probably will be payday at : Fort Douglas for the soldier boys, and the sum of about $40,000 will be distributed distrib-uted among the soldiers, provided the pavrolls can be completed today by Captain Cap-tain W. H. Elliott, post quartermaster and paymaster. Captain Elliott sought to complete the payrolls yesterday, so he could pay the soldiers off for last month today, but it was impossible to get the rolls completed by last night. It was announced at the quartermaster's quartermas-ter's headquarters last night, however, that the roils would undoubtedly be completed com-pleted today, so that the boys could be paid tomorrow. The boys have not had a payday since before they left El Paso, Texas, and most of them are anxiously awaiting the all-important all-important time when the government "ghost" will walk. The soldiers do not get increased pay this time, but at the next payday, early in July, they will draw increased allowance, allow-ance, privates getting double their usual pay. |
