Show TROY TRAILERS HELP REDUCE!: H. C, L, There are nine Troy trailers working In and around Ogden, Utah, this year, hauling fruits and vegetables to the canneries. can-neries. Early in the season most of the canners recognized the fact that if they were to have any produce at all to put up, and at a cost that would allow them to can it and market it at prices that would compete with other brands, they would have to cut off cost somewnere to offset the huge rise in price from the grower. In every instance the great saving sav-ing that could be made in their transportation trans-portation costs by the use of motor trucks and Troy trailers appealed to them, and they all made purchases and already they are realizing the great saving. The difference in the cost of hauling their goods by teams, which would have cost them SS per day this season, if they were fortunate enough to secure them, and by motor truck and Troy trailers has been so great that one of the largest operators in Ogden advised H. C. Legg of the Landes company of this city, who distributes the trailers throughout the western territory, that they would be able to sell their canned peas for at least 20 cencs per case less than if the teams had been employed. On one haul, where a team formerly made three round trips per day with two tons per trip, or a total cost of $1 per ton. they are now using the truck and trailer and are making mak-ing nine round trips, hauling six tons per trip, at a total cost of 30 cents per ton, and the greatest saving Is that this method of hauling insures thetr factory of continuous operation, whereas in the past they have always had a great many delays awaiting the arrival of produce, due to the slowness of the teams and the difficulty in securing them. |
