Bos-ton. wlieie he played in the Boston Symphony Sym-phony oivhestia and studied under some M" 1SS GERTRUDE SLATER, pianist of the Salt Lake high schools for the last three years, who will enter the Bos-I Bos-I ton Conservatory of Music this fall. , ' ' ' f ' j ' h " t ! Mr. Lyni is considered one of tlie finest oboe players in the imermountain west and is also excellent on the clarinet. He will play oboe in the Tv.'entieth infantry band. Tiie young musician spent a year in Boston, studying theory and composition and also the piano. He played in tlie symphony orchestra while there and appeared ap-peared as soloist on several occasions. He was told by his instructor on the oboe that if he continued his work as he was going in a year or two he would be one of the finest oboe plavers in the country. coun-try. Director Anton Goetz of the Twentieth infantry band considers himself fortunate to secure a musician of Mr. Lyin's accomplishments ac-complishments to play in his band.
