There is ft miciio of bustling bus-tling aotivity apparent that is ac-rornplinliintf ac-rornplinliintf rapid pmgiens in development de-velopment ami const ruction. Five machine rlrilln, run by a Chicago pneumatic company compressor, are in opora I ion, and another compressor compres-sor of ix-ilri!l capacity is boinp installed, these to be augmented within tlie near future by another, all to Inter be grouped together at a central point between the site for the proposed tiOD-ton mill and what is designated as the main working tunnel on the Shepherd claim, which is about 2.00 feet longer than the Shepherd No. 1 tunnel, in which the enriched formation for-mation has been cross-cut tor over 140 feet, only a small section between be-tween the 107 and 325-foot points being below pay values. Across this wide area assays range from four to sixteen ounces silver, except ex-cept near the hanging wall, where the values ranpo from fifteen to forty-eitfht ounces alonf; the drift, which has been driven nearly 1.50 feet. On the day of my visit Superintendent Su-perintendent Wilkio informed me that the en tiro face of the drift Ba.mpled twenty-eight ounces silver. sil-ver. For the purpose of blocking out ami proving up the ore more definitely, a cross-cut is soon to be driven l'rom this drift about loO feet south ot the present cross-cut that has failed to develop a foot-wall foot-wall during its progress of 140 feet. This ore has now been encountered encoun-tered in the main working tunnel, which was driven nearly 200 feet in less than one month, and the values are about the same as on the hanging wall in the Shepherd No. 1 tunnel. At this place a largo corrugated cor-rugated iron blacksmith shop has been ereoted and a Sullivan drill sharpener installed. It is planned to connect this tunnel with the Shepherd No. 1 workings by a series se-ries of raises, and the ore "will be brought to surface here and conveyed con-veyed to the mill by electric haulage haul-age in trains of cars. The mill, construction on the first r.00-ton unit of which will soon be commenced, will be located on the sunny slope of a hill opposite the mouth of the working tunnel, and a track will be built aloTg the slope of the hill from tunnel to mill. The mill is designed by K. Freitne. who built the Packard mill, and will be a model in modern mod-ern construction and equipment, j There will be no stamps, the grind-j grind-j ing being done by a bic gvratorv : crusher -augmented by ball and tube mills, the extraction being made by cyanide. |
