Show Prominent German Held, DETROIT, Mich., April 6. Albert Kaltschmidt, Kalt-schmidt, prominent German, was taken Into custody tonight by a United States marshal. At tne trial of William Lefler and Charles Respa who were convicted and are now serving long sentences In a Canadian Ca-nadian prison for dynamiting the Pea-body Pea-body Overall company's plant at Walker-vllie, Walker-vllie, Ont., in June, 1915, Kaltschmldt's name was mentioned, Lefler accusing him of having originated several plots to destroy buildings in Canadian cities. The Canadian Eovernrnent, it is understood, under-stood, made several unsuccessful attempts to have Kaltschmidt turned over by United States authorities. Later tonight Kaltschmidt was arraigned ar-raigned and waived examination. The warrant charges that Kaltschmidt "did set on foot and prepare means for a military expedition In the United Slates against the Dominion of Canada." The charge of storing and transporting dynamite also is included in the document. |
