GOLFERS MAKE NEW RULING ON AMATEURS CHICAGO. Jan. 11 The Tutted States Golf association, at its annual meeting tonight, decided to make professionals all golfers who sell golf goods, either as proprietor pro-prietor or employee of a concern, pro- j vided sueh person depends on his fame or skill as a eolfer to promote these sales. Dates were selected for the three national na-tional championships after the places had been chosen by a rather perfunctory vote. The Western Golf a-ssociatlon will meet tomorrow night to select dates for its tournaments and to discuss amateurs. One of the questions to be decided is whether It would make the players amateurs ama-teurs to accept free transportation to California, provided the western amateur tournament be awarded to the Del Monte club. The board of directors recently decided de-cided that such acceptance would make the players professionals, but the decision deci-sion was made by three of the nine directors, di-rectors, and It is proposed to have the body of the association reconsider the question.
