Show I Dramatic I Comment I Messrs. KUtw and Erlanner, in a? Ifl sociation with Joseph Brooks, hai o just produced "Cordelia Blossom," an American comedy in four acts, by JA George Randolph Chester, author of "Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford," and Lillian Chester, at the Broad Street the-ater the-ater in Philadelphia. The play, which was most favorably received, is based on tho Cordelia Blossom Btonca by Mr. Chester that havo appeared from timo to timo in a weekly publication. A cast of unsual merit has been pro-vided. pro-vided. It includes Burr Mcintosh, who has been absent from the stage for several years; Harry C. Browne, Graco Elhston, Jane Groy, James See-ley See-ley and a score of otbors. The locale is supposedly a small city in the middle wost. The great success of Mr. Chester's " Get-Eich-Quick Wal-lingford' Wal-lingford' in its atago form naturally IH attracted atteution to the dramatization of other stories' from Mr. Chestor's pen. The story of "Cordelia Blossom" do-picts do-picts what might ho expected, to hap lH pon when women becomo dominant in politics, and tho action starts -with the rivalry of two women, "who Beek social supremacy. Much of the fun comes from tho forcing of political honors upon Colonel Blossom, a- genial old south-em south-em gentleman, who holds "practical tH politics" in contempt. It is understood that Marcus Loew, who recently purchased tho Sullivan-Considine Sullivan-Considine circuit, has his oyo on North-west North-west Canada and is contemplating an addition to pis already gigantic circuit by building theaters in several of the ll thriving Canadian cities. Loew now owns theaters in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Toronto, is building in Montreal ,IH and Ottawa, and of course has his big connections in tho states. Ho is desir-oils desir-oils of building n chain of theaters ll which will connect his Vancouvor with ll his Winnipeg and Toronto houses. Ho ilrst got tho idea when his birr musical IH comedy, "Hanky Panky," went through tho territory he is now con-templatiug con-templatiug building in. The success of the production on this trip through the Canadian cities showed Mr. Loew the possibilities. A chain across Northwest Canada would enable him to route a show in one big loop, which would cross eastward from Now York to San Francisco, go north to Portland nnd Seattle, and return eastward again bv 'M way of the chain he is thtnkig of build-ing. |
